5/18
Well today I woke up at 10 I wasn’t so happy about that because when I wake up late my head hurts and I feel lazy not wanting to do a lot. I feel like most of my day is gone when I wake up late because I can’t do much of what I want to do during the day. I have to workout out in the morning in order to go on with my day so that at least an hour of my day.

Today I woke up in a good mood feeling great ready to have a successful day and workout throughout my day and have fun with my family like the workouts I do I like getting competitive with my family and having fun so today we went out to play basketball and have fun all together since it’s been a nice day with the sun out.

I woke up a bit lazy not wanting to do much but after my workouts it got me going and helping my mom clean our house and keeping everything organize and not a mess I like having what is mine clean such as my moms car I like washing it and cleaning the Inside when it looks dirty I don’t like seeing anything dirty I don’t feel comfortable seeing anything dirty.

Today I woke up early it’s my Birthday so I wanted to do a bbq with oysters so me and my mom had to go all the way to Morro bay to get some oysters so we had to go get them at 3 pm so to kill time for meanwhile we went for a walk to oso flaco and it was funny with my little brother we raced to see who would get to the end of the dock first and I win him so then he wanted to get close to the water so I just let him touch it and then we headed back and then it was time to go so we went and we came back and did a bbq.

Today I woke up feeling good went to sleep early yesterday I was tired from that bbq so I woke up feeling great with good vibes and energy ready to workout and take on the day today I will be working out eating my salads that my daily routine but I try to workout a lot for a good day and keep myself moving today a lot I just feel like I have a lot of energy

Today I woke up alright feeling good lately not lazy like other days that I have felt lazy and not wanting to do much doing what I do in a daily bases I woke up did some workouts then checked Aries for any work that I need to do for any of my classes and everything thing is looking well I’ve done most of the work assigned in the time that school has been closed and am trying to keep up with everything

Today I woke up at 9 not to late but not to early I did the workouts that I have been doing everyday so I can feel active and not just lazy throughout the rest of the day It makes me feel better and not lazy so I have to do them on a daily bases I feel like working out helps me a lot throughout my day I can feel the way I sweat and it makes me feel good because it makes me feel alive and I like working out because the sports I do

CATCH-22

Catch-22 is basically a catch that is tricky so if people are going crazy or are crazy but they still really wouldn’t care and send them on missions. The catch is tricky because their basically isn’t a way out of it and they will trick you to Keep doing missions.

I SAW THE ETERNAL FOOTMAN

He tries to find love but he really can’t because of how he is and the way he sees things and it affects him. When he states “ in the room women come and go “ he probably feels empty and sad that he doesn’t really feel love and he wants to feel loved.

• We had a talk about what people are going through right now in this times and how people have been affected 
• The way that people are stressing over the test that are coming up for the people that are in AP classes and have to take the AP test

• The narrator seems lonely and would like the love of women but that is not possible for him

Today I woke up tired from the weekly hikes that me and my family go on but I woke up good ready to do a lot of things around the house since my uncle gave me a bike that he had but I just had to fix the tires and my grandma gave us a small bonfire pit that had a bit of rust so I had to scrap it off and take it off and wash it then I got to fixing the bike my uncle gave me it was a successful day.

Today I woke up a little lazy not really wanting to do anything but me as a person I have to workout in the morning in order to get my day going because if not I just feel lazy throughout the whole day so I’d rather work out in the morning and do myself a protein shake and then when it’s dinner time I just eat a salad but this has been my routine for like the past month I have to work out daily if not I don’t feel well the rest of the day.

Today I woke up very tired from some random reason I didn’t really want to do the workouts a usually do not n the daily bases but at the end of the day I have to do them because I feel weird if I don’t don them so I had to do them then I went to do my protein shake for the day and I had to take care of the puppy we got over the weekend but I feel like it’s to much to take care of because he started crying when you leave him alone for to long he likes to sleep a lot.

4/27-4/29

FAHRENHEIT 451 ESSAY

      In the way I see things I feel like the story was more like a man versus man thing in many ways and situations that the author puts in the story. He puts different examples were Montag has to basically go against his mind in order to get things correct. He author for example doesn’t really explain why books are banned from the undisclosed city probably here in the United States. He makes it seem like it a story from the future. They have the law of not being able to have and read books and that is montag’s job of burning the books. The author gives some example of what Montag had to do against his own mind and what was happening.

     The one example that I want to start is that Montag and his mind himself he wants to read books and see what he feels. His job is a fire fighter but in that disclosed city a fire fighter burn books so the people won’t read them. This for examples makes me think that he had to fight his own mind which would man versus man. It’s like me starting to eat healthy but then I see something that I like and ain’t healthy for me like a burger with bacon I have the right to pick. Some of us think health and are mentally prepared for that mom meant and say no to the burger but other just can’t take it and say it isn’t bad for one burger.

     The other situation that I would explain or but as an example would be like a man versus tradition or culture because Montag basically didn’t get to choose to work there. He basically doesn’t want to work there but he was put to work there like a socialism country or place. He basically has to fight for himself and he can’t do much because if people find out that he doesn’t like it then he would get in trouble. It makes me think they he is forced to work in what he is doing and he isn’t doing it because she likes it but because he has to in order to live. In the way I see it’s a man versus his tradition or culture because they have learned that it’s ok to live like that.

     The last example that I would explain would be man versus nature when Montag had to escape and go through a forest and river. He had to faces those things that he didn’t imagine in that disclosed city he was in it was like a bubble that he was in. He also experienced other things such as when he saw the explosions he got flashbacks of when he would burn the books. He had to fight and hide for his life in the river because they had a helicopter chasing him and it would probably be the only way he could get away. When he finally felt safe he came out and then they and some other people saw him and took him with them and it shows how they just pick up random people.

     If feel like this were some of the important things we needed to understand and put in other words to compare to what we have to do. The main thinks that I felt that were the best ways to metaphors them and important in the story. The author just left me kinda wanting to learn more because it feels as he is talking about the future and a random city somewhere in the United States.

• Some teachers are just leaving work for students to be busy and not for them to keep learning so it just a bunch of work

4/20-4/22 DAILY JOURNALS

IT'S COMPLICATED

He feels more loved and wanted rather than were he was he felt like just another simple human that is just living. He felt bad because were he used to live he had to burn the books that the people wanted to read and he saw how the building got destroyed. He felt guilty for all the things he had done were he was from when he saw that the bomb was about to go off at the top of the building.

NOTES ON 4/20

• Some came to Montag and told him that he could come out now and he was scared as soon as he heard the voice to tell him to come out 
• Montag felt like they were just looking at him different because he was just a stranger to them and not someone familiar 
• Montag felt weird because the people there actually cared about each other to were people in his place don’t really care 
• I learned that people waving means that they come in peace and not want to harm you or have anything that can harm you 
• The people helped him out told him that they didn’t hide from him and that the chase continues but it’s on the north end now 
• A voice from the sky said Montag don’t move with the light on the victim and they took him as he screamed

• All the people have in common that they are all educated well and Montag is just a firemen from a different place

MURDER JUST BECAUSE

I think there isn’t much that can make a peaceful person try to murder someone and changing the way that they can go from peaceful to being evil. I think what can turn someone like that is if you try them and or bother them because sometimes people that are peaceful and calm that don’t socialize end up getting bullied by others that just don’t have anything else do to. In the way people see it’s never justified for someone to murder another human because everyone deserves to live life and just die by age parents shouldn’t make funerals for there children.

FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL

The plan they are making is to plant books in the houses of firemen so that the firemen get arrested and there will be no one to enforce the anti-book law. I think this will lead to them getting in trouble and getting caught planting books. They will have to stop burning books because they will end up arrested and they will not have anyone to burn them. The people will be happy because books won’t get burned and have things to read no one to inforce the law.

THE GLORY OF THE MISTAKE

It’s good to make mistakes and be wrong sometimes because you learn from that something new about that topic. We get the opportunity to learn from that mistake and being wrong we always have space and time to learn something new about anything. The next time someone or something about that topic pops up we know a more about it. When I started playing soccer I didn’t know how to kick a ball well and I didn’t have good reflexes. Then a year or so later I really improved and got better at playing the sport but through out the time I made a lot of mistakes and practiced to get better.

NO GUTS NO GLORY

I think his decision about reading books was a risk for him and he might have think it was a mistake or something good for him. I think he might have regret it but he will also take something good from it and not just something bad. He might have realized that it wasn’t the best choice because of what he has got into being t he learned something new about reading books because he hasn’t done that before.

DAILY JOURNALS 4/13-4/15

IS IT JUST ABOUT THE JOB?

If I had a job that a lot of people would not look what am doing and that would harm others in the way they live or see things. I don’t think it would be a good job to have because a lot of people would not like you if you harm something they like. The same way the president said he was going to deport a lot of parole he mad a lot of people mad also. He ended up separating children from their parents but he didn’t see that he just wanted to accomplish what he said and didn’t care about others. He gained a lot of hate for it and I feel like others enjoy the same way.

THIS CAT IS CURIOUS

I believe our curiosity is determined by our personality because people can care and others won’t it just depends if n how they feel. It all depends on our personalities in how the people are and if they have the time for you. If people see something they haven’t seen before they are obviously going to be curios about it because they haven’t seen it.

MY INNER HAPPY

I agree some of those things make us happy and for us to take our minds off other things we don’t like and have a good time. The things that make me happy were playing sports and going out with my friends it would take my mind off things like being on the street. Sports have been a big impact in my life I feel like without sports I would not be the same person. I feel like I would be a kid that would get in trouble for dumbs things and just be out on the streets but sports are a big thing to me. That’s one thing that makes me happy and sad I can’t do it.

UNITED WE STAND?

Independence is important when someone wants to manage their own life and want to be by theme selves. In the way I see it people really claim independence when they are ready around the age of 18 because they want to be responsible for their selves. They want to be in charge of themselves and want to pay their own things how it should be. People feel like interdependence is more important when they are a couple because they might want to go live by themselves and might want to start a family.

ANTI-INTELLECTUALISM IN AMERICA

I feel like a lot of people are afraid to be criticized because they take what other people think about them to hard and might get emotional. The reason that people don’t do big thinks that is because they don’t seem interested on it and they might feel left out and not smart. Me as a teen i generally feel like people don’t use their intelligence as a superpower because they want to be followers. The teens now days want to do what they see others doing and want to do the same thing. The way I see it is like people like Elon musk and bill gates they are smart people with a lot of money and they probably had a great mindset. I don’t want to be a follower I rather be a leader and use what I have in my favor than being a follower.

WHY I WORK

I care enough to work for something I really want or if it’s something that I need because if not I’ll be affected like papers. A project is a great example because a project is like something big for someone and for example in school something big (project) is worth a good amount of points. If you don’t do that project your grade will be affected by a good amount sometimes even a whole letter grade. So something I would care about working on would be something like a project a relationship is also a good example. In my way of seeing it it’s relationship between 2 people so 50 and 50 makes 100. It wouldn’t before if one is doing 75 and the other doing 25 I would really care about a relationship like that. If we both put the 50 it’s something to work for and care about and would look to love forward with that person.

WHAT ARE WE LEARNING NOW?

I feel like what I’ve learned from this is that a virus can control the world in a matter of time and that if we continue like this it won’t stop. The internet and robots could potentially take over the world and have more power that they can even be used as teachers. I learned that everyone gets bored of being home and not being able to go out and have fun. It’s like something like this can bring a lot of people together as a country but others get out of control and don’t see people who are actually affected. This can even cause an economic crash with out people being able to control it and its crazy because a lot of people are unemployed.

THE RIGHT TO READ

I believe that we as Americans should have the right to reas because it lets us learn more as humans it helps kids to get smarter. We as humans learn something new everyday and I way for us to learn is by reading different articles. We can gather information by reading about the topic we want it’s like doing a research. If people have the freedom of speech would should always have the right to read because reading is a big effect in our days. Even if your just reading a news paper or a message it helps because auto correct can help you correct yourself and you might Understand how to do it.

BOOKS AND NEW TECH

I think books are a good way to learn things but other people believe that instead internet should have everything for easier access. Some of the people learn better through books and people like me I’d rather have a book at my hand than a phone while reading. I would get distracted if I am reading off my phone but if I got the book I wouldn’t get distracted. Books are better than technology sometimes but we might not understand.

F451 AND ME

One of the connections that I made with the reading was that he feels like his neighbor is probably strange and weird. I feel like my neighbors are strange and weird also but it’s probably because I haven’t talked to them that much. The way he felt like a guy was telling him something I can relate to it because like 5 or so years ago. I was with my uncle and I heard an ambulance and it reminded me of my brother some how and when we got home I found out he had been taken to the hospital with Respiratory problems.

F451 summary

The guy Montag is a fireman in charge of burning books in a grim he has a bit of pleasures of working on the jobs. He wears a helmet with the numbers 451 and a black uniform with a salamander ooh the arm and a Phoenix disc on the chest. On his way home from the fire station he gets a weird sense then he meets his new neighbor an unusual seventeen year old named Clarisse McClellan. She immediately recognized him as a fireman and seems amazed by him and his uniform. She tell him that she is crazy and the fireman shout extinguish fires not light them up and she asks him about his job and tells him he comes from a strange family. Clarissa strangeness makes guy nervous and he laughs repeatedly. She reminds him in different ways of candlelight, a clock and a mirror. He somehow feels attracted to her as she fascinates him with outrages questions and she asks him if he is happy as she disparara into her house. Wondering if the absurd question he enters his house and muses about the enigmatic stranger and her questions.

GATSBY ESSAY

The point of view that I get the readers see the American Dream as being wealthy, not really happy, and some what loyal to each other. Some people will say it’s worth pursuing the American Dream because of what they see that people have accomplished. In the other hand people will also say that it is not worth coming to America for what they believe it would be because it’s harder for them to get to the America dream. In my opinion if you come to America live the American Dream if you work hard and smart you will get there. The story shows a lot his examples of this actions  that can be explained.

     I see the American Dream as a big dream that people who are living outside of American or United States would love to accomplish. In my understanding people see the American Dream as coming to the United States and finding a job that pays well so they can buy a house. Some people just want to come and have a great job to get money and go back to there home countries. The people that would like to accomplish the American Dream would work hard to get money and raise their family to n a good place and community. The people that live with a lot of violence in there country just see the American Dream as a safe place to be at home and with more freedom than they have at their home country. The way I see it is that depends what you are Living in your home country the American Dream is different and some people want less and others want more.

     The American Dream in The Great Gatsby might be a little different but it has some great examples of what people think about the American Dream. Gatsby is a great example of the American Dream because of his work and what he did in the story and the wealth he has. Gatsby was a normal American went to a university and all till one day he was fishing and saw a big yacht. While Gatsby was out there he warned the owner of the yacht about a big storm so the guy ended up taking him along. Gatsby later became his assistant and became in love with the luxury life so he started working for what he really wanted and became wealth after his boss passed away. In the story the example that is put about the American Dream can be possible to accomplish if you really want too it won’t get you everything I want be it can be accomplished.

     In my way of seeing things it’s good to pursue the American Dream because it has different benefits that you can get out of it. The people who pursue the American Dream lose a lot but they also gain a lot and they gain more than what they lose. While other people gain more freedom and get away from the violence they would live around others also find great jobs that will help their families out. Most of the people who have accomplished what they call the American Dream are happy about what this country has gave them and how they are treated. The jobs that immigrants who come and try to live the American Dream are hard jobs but they will do anything to get their family out of poverty so they can have better lives. Living the American Dream can be different for everybody some come from poverty to just trying to get more for themselves. Many others just come from middle class families trying to get more and become wealthier than other some people take advantage of what they have. If you live with violence and poverty around you the American Dream is a great way out it might be hard but at the end it’s the best.

     In the American Dream can be different for everyone depending what you are living and where your from and is going on in your home country. Most of the people it’s just getting out of poverty and giving their kids a better place and better living. They come to this country risking a lot that we might not see but for them is living family behind like brothers, sisters, and parents. Just to come live the American Dream having a better job and more money to live better than what they used too.

CUE THEME MUSIC

The discussion that we had in class was good a lot of great examples about the message that the story might want to tell people. The ideas that the classmates put up on the board are great about all of them having fake love for each other and Gatsby just trying to get daisy back because he loved her. The other great idea that they said was that money won’t get you everything and that’s a good one because it can’t buy happiness and things like feelings. They were grey central messages because e they could be backed up by what’s in the story and have great examples of them.

The American dream is a big reason a lot of people want to come to the United States because in the outside the United States looks great but can be totally different in the Inside. Countries around us might look at us like a wonderful place and a dream to be here but in reality it’s expensive to live here and we have to work hard for our dreams. Some people that come to the United States from other countries end up needing help from others to live somewhere it’s hard on people to be here sometimes. We have a great country but our health care is very high and it’s not great with all the jobs people have and they get over charged for an injury.

GATSBY CH 9 QUESTION

1. Gatsby is a great person but just focused on one dream or goal but he is great and welcomes a lot of people to his parties 
2. Nick is very honest but I feel like he just didn’t really have anyone else to hang out around their so his neighbor and cousin were the only options he had and not other people

I agree with him because they were both careless about others peoples feelings and how they feel they just cared that they felt good about themselves and didn’t matter about the outside world like they just zoned out and they are the only ones that have feeling which seemed careless and the money would save them from being punished

WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT GATSBY

Gatsby was a great guy who just had one goal or dream and it was go get daisy back because he loved her with his whole heart and would do anything for her. Gatsby welcomed a lot of people when he did his parties that were only meant to get daisy’s attention and for her to go but either way he invited lots and welcomed lots. He bought the house across from daisy’s dock just to see her that she was their and the green light at night that was her dock. Gatsby was full of great ideas and would take blames even if he didn’t do it just like how daisy was the one who ran over the lady and not Gatsby which is why he got killed.

• After two years of Gatsby’s death nick describes his funeral that it was filled of journalists, reporters, and gossip mongers 
• More wild and untrue rumors went around about Gatsby’s relationship with Myrtles and Wilson 
• Feeling that Gatsby wouldn't like a funeral alone nick tries to get his friends and accountants but they have all disappeared 
• Tom and daisy have moved away with no address for them to look for as well as Meyer Wolfshiem and Klipspringer
• The only people to attend the funeral are Nick, Owl eye, a couple servants, and Gatsby’s dad 
• Gatsby’s father is proud of his son and saves a couple pictures and memories 
• Suck of East egg Nick moves back to the Midwest he breaks off his relationship with Jordan who tell him that she had been with another man 
• As nick is leaving he encounters Tom and refuses to shake his hand but later accepts then Tom tells nick that he was the one who told Wilson that Gatsby owned the car that killed Myrtles

WHAT GATSBY SAYS TO ME

I think the central idea of the book or theme is that like Gatsby has done everything that is possible to get daisy’s attention because he loves her and he wants her to love him. In my way of seeing things it is trying to say to not waste all your money and time to try and get people’s attention if they love you and want you they will talk to you. Gatsby had wasted a lot of money on parties and the mansion he bought and he couldn’t get her attention till nick told her to go over to his house for some tea. If she really cared about him she wouldn’t want all that money or would want him to do all that for her attention. Or the other message that I feel is like some people say money can get you anything. I feel like that’s a lie because it sometimes doesn’t bring happiness it brings things you can buy but you cant buy happiness.

GATSBY NOTES AND THOUGHTS CH 7

• Gatsby cancels his parties which were to get daisy’s attention and fires his servants and replaces them with shady individuals connected to Meyer Wolfshiem 
• On the hottest day of the summer nick takes a train to East egg to go with his cousin daisy and finds Jordan and Gatsby there 
• When the lady shows daisy’s daughter Gatsby can’t believe it and they can’t hide there love for each other daisy asks Gatsby if they want to go to the city and Gatsby looks at her passionately and Tom becomes aware of there feeling for each other 

My thoughts at this point is that daisy will end up leaving Tom because she will fall for Gatsby again and really wants to make a life with him and be happy and not disappointed by Tom

• Tom says that they should all go to New York and nick rides with Jordan and Tom meanwhile daisy and Gatsby are riding together in Tom’s car stopping for gas as they go to the city it is notice that Wilson has been aware of his wife cheating but doesn’t know with who and it seems that Wilson and Tom are in the same situation

• The rumors of Gatsby keep circulating around New York that a reporter goes to Gatsby’s mansion to try to interview 
• Gatsby was born James Gatz in a North Dakota farm and went to school in Minnesota he dropped out after two weeks and was fishing salmon 
• One day he saw a yacht owned by Dan Cody and he went and warned him about a storm and Dan to Gatsby with him as his assistant and Gatsby fell in love with the luxury life 
• Nick hasn’t seen daisy or Gatsby ever since the reunion and one day he passes by to see Tom Buchanan at Gatsby’s house

NOTES AND THOUGHTS ON GATSBY CHAPTER 5

• Nick thinks he’s has the craziest conversation with Gatsby as he asked him questions and wanted him to party 

My thoughts are that Gatsby is doing a lot because he wants nick attention so he can talk to daisy because obviously he likes her and is in love with her

• Gatsby brought a whole green house of flowers to nicks house to the tea or meeting 
• Gatsby was pale as death when he saw that daisy got there and ran from the back door around to the front door so it can seem that he wasn’t waiting for her 

My thought was that he was pale because he was nervous that daisy was there

• He says that when he went outside to run for a black tree it was raining 

Why would he even say it was raining I think he said it so he could set a mood for the story

• Gatsby tells nick to takes daisy to his house so he can show her around his house 
• Gatsby never say what he works as but does say he was a drug dealer and 
• In my thinking he states that he wanted to buy that house and put everything in it to try to impress her and hopefully that’s what she wanted 
• He bought the house at opposite side so that he can see her even at night when the green light on a dock was on 
• Daisy and Gatsby stay at his house while nick leaves so they can stay alone at Gatsby’s house 

NICK’S CARDINAL VIRTUE

At the end of the chapter, we learn that Nick's cardinal virtue is," I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known." 

How does this admission change the way we look at Nick?  
Nick seems to be the loyal one throughout everything and everyone else is weird and not happy with themselves or other people even Gatsby that is rich he is in love with Daisy but she is married

Is his idea supported by the events we've read so far?  
yes, because he has been very loyal and is just taking in what he has seen and what the people have to say about others and not spreading rumors like the other people

• for my first two minutes i thought of how the world would be without water and our bodies would just rely on food t have energy but it sounds weird because we are used to water but what if we never knew about water. 
• for the second two minutes i thought about how people say that boiling water to a certain temperature usually cleans the water from germs and being bad water so how are we not able to do that with ocean water and it's probably because it has salt and sand mixed 
• for the last two minute of mindfulness about my big question i remember that the ocean has a lot of trash in it and for us to clean the water would also involve us cleaning the ocean and stop throwing trash every where

MEET NICK

Nick Carraway is from Minnesota he states that in the summer of 1922 he moved to New York he moved in order to work in the bond business and he rented a house on a part of Long Islands called West Eggs. Nick states that his dad thought him to reserve judgement about other people because they didn’t have the same choices he had. Nick has a lot of connections on the East Egg because he graduated from Yale. Nick characterized him self as highly moral and highly tolerant.

DARK PATTERNS

Yes some of this things I read about have happened to me such as when I was cleat shopping online they had a certain number in stock. It said that the product was a certain percent off and if you shopped a certain amount you would get free shipping. What I did was I went to check in other websites that sell cleats if they were cheaper but they weren’t the adidas official site was the only place. They tell you they have a certain amount on stock but sometimes they have more than what the site says because I checked hours later and they still had some. If not I have seen some websites that tell you how many people are viewing the same product to try to get you to buy it.

The one big question that caught my attention was “ Is their life after death? “ it got my attention because all humans die at one point. I wonder what people that died are doing right know like yesterday sadly Kobe Bryant passed away with his daughter. It gets me thinking because what’s really after death is their someone waiting for you at the entrance or gate of death like a family member. I wonder if people who have stopped breathing for so long felt what it feels what they have experienced or if they remember anything.

The linked I clicked in and followed “ How we humanize together” I liked and learned that we as humans are very resourceful to each other. Some humans just need a little of motivation to keep on going and trying to reach the goal they want in life. Sometimes things we think it’s just mentality and we might think ambas about them but should actually think good about them. I found what it seems like a great novel named Rivals by Tim Green it seems to be about a baseball player which is interesting because it’s about an athlete and I like to read things about them. The two short stories that seemed interesting were Riding the Bullet and The tell tale heart they seemed interesting because they seem to have a taste of mystery.

AMERICAN LITERATURE

American literature in my way of seen it or understanding it is related to the United States writing or books. I feels likes this is the definition of American Literature because something American is related to the untied states and literature is a writing or a book artistic. In a sort of way I had to think about because he could have just got musicians in New York as his manger said but he wanted the traditional people from Africa to do it for him. It was great because he had that taste of the people that were actually from the place and not just some musicians from New York.
