MY LEARNING FALL AND RISE

When the day came of starting my junior year of high school, I was like summer went by in a blink of an eye. I went to my first class that day and it went well then, the bell rang for my next class then I looked at my schedule. I saw English was next I just started getting flashbacks from my previous English classes. My mind was worried about all the reading and vocabulary I had to do the for the last years. I walked in the class nervous looking around to see if I could find anyone, I knew then I saw Jose and sat next to him. I remember telling him I did not like English because I wasn't good at English and it was my weak subject. We had a conversation about he told me that he wasn't the best at it either. I had difficulty through English my previous year and was nervous about this one.

      I sat down wait for instructions by Dr.Preston and he was just waiting for everyone to get comfortable in their seat. He talked to us for a while about two options we had for his class this year and they would define the rest of the year and said, "any questions?”. The whole class was quiet, so he decides to walk to the door and say, "come get me when your done deciding". They were not options for the day they were for the year I was shocked thinking is he really letting us decide for the year. In my mind I was like he's probably just testing us and is going to walk right back in. The whole class was quiet everyone just looking at each other Diana toke action by saying who wants to take the blog option most of us agreed and she went to get you and we went along.

     My experience with this new learning style was way different I found it better and not boring like the previous years it was something new. It felt like we had more of a freedom of what we could do in class and we all decide for things as a class and not an individual. After the first week of school English was one of my go to class because when I go to that class, I feel like I could be myself in a calm way. The new thing that I learned this year in English class was how they have different was to memorize something. The poems were something totally different I didn’t do in any of my classes before this one. The way we could use or journals and blogs in so many positive ways is a good thing for us choosing this option.

      The blog was something that if we didn't finish in class we had to do at home as homework and as a busy person I tend to forget things like that especially when it isn't usual for the class to get homework. When Dr.Preston gave us a poem and then told us we had to memorize it was like a curve ball thrown at me it was difficult to memorize the poem. I just toke my own method and heard the poems on YouTube over and over till I got them in my head. The essay was a big thing I didn't think I was going to get a good grade on and I probably didn't till Dr,Preston told us we could do it our own way. One thing that I had difficulty with was with my journal entrees I wouldn't be able to write a good number of sentences. I would struggle with the writing but as time went, I was able to explain more in my writing entrees and not just wanting to get to the point quick and finish.

      A good and positive way that i got used to this class was the way we did things we would get to class and journal entrees was the first thing we did entering class. The blog was hard to keep up with sometimes but when i got in my schedule it was easier. I would go home do all my math homework, go to soccer practice then went to the gym after that i made sure all my homework and post were done for my blog that is a daily routine for me. It has been my routine for a while now and most of my blog post are done and good to look at. My best post and jornal entrees I have put extra work on them like on the weekend if I have spare time and not doing anything I would see what post I didn’t finish and I would put time and finish them. My journals when Dr.Preston shave us time for post in class I would finish the journal first and make it better and then start my post.

      When I went into class the first month of school I wasn’t good at writing I would go in to conclusion very quick instead of exposing and expanding my writing. The jornal entrees helped me a lot with that always trying to write half a page a day and expanding my responds. I wasn’t able to go around on the blog and use all the tools that we were able to use over the time I have learned to use them in different ways and it’s helpful. The internet is not just for social media but it’s also for us to take advantage and use it for useful things like school and learning. A big thing that I wasn’t able to do when I first went to class was an interview and I am very proud of that because if I were to do an interview today I would be calm and not nervous like I was. This class has changed me in different ways like how I use the internet and how I write on essays and responds.

MY BRIAN ON THANKSGIVING BREAK

I went to go play soccer in Visalia with the high school team I did well blocked a penalty in the first game for the win and not a tie. Then we had a game against Atascadero and we won 4-1. The rest of the days I tried sleeping in but I just would wake up at 9 and wouldn’t be able to fall asleep again to I played FIFA 20 and maintained my self warm from the cold weather. Then thanksgiving came and went over to my grandmas house and had turkey and ham with other food on the side a well spent day with my family. On Saturday we had soccer practice at 9am then rain came along and it made practice fun because I haven’t felt the feeling of playing the sport I love and rain at the same time in a while.

FIRST IMPRESSION: ON SELF-RELIANCE

My impression to this essay is that if we as people set our mindsets to do something I feel like we are able to accomplish it. This essay was written a while back and as we can see it’s has things that we still do till this day. It shocks me to know that things we do now people also did back then even though technology has evolved into some sort of attaching thing. He uses some big word that are good to be explained and that have good meanings for what he writes that’s what makes it interesting also defining the word.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

LET ME WALK YOU THROUGH THE PEDESTRIAN

Imagine you go for a walk and then you turn the corner and the you get stopped by a cop and start getting harassed for putting one foot in front of the other. Ray Bradbury once went for a walk in his town and n a chilly day as he went home a couple of things occurred. He got the energy to go home and write a short story about what had happened to him in his walk. He felt in a sort of way that he had to put the things that happened out their for people to read and understand. As he got home he start his story and wrote the story called “The Pedestrian”. It seemed like the things that happened bothered him and felt injustice so he want people to know about them.

The tone of the story “The Pedestrian” seem like it’s a chilly day in a November fall it’s around eight o’clock. The grass and buches filled with invisible ice and when your breathed out you would see the fog coming out of your mouth. Everything was calm the streets were empty with lights in on but rarely any people. Their was not much noise either he was just walking home when he saw some lights flash behind him and telling him to stop. It was a cop car that had stopped him the only cop car in the city. I would be mad and pissed if an officer toke me down for no reason I would feel like am getting mistaken for another person. I would probably end up file a lawsuit against the cop and the station for what they have done and I would have raised my tone as he ddi also.

The character seemed to like going for walked when the sun would go down at night around the same time or would have the same routine everyday. He liked going out and explore the life going and breathing fresh air. He was calm but when the cop stopped him for no reason and started acting like he commuted a crime. He was basically getting harassed for just walking down the street on a chilly day just to go out and get fresh air. He was bothered and felt you justice for walking he felt a way that he should like discriminated.

The plot of the story was the same they go out for a walk on a calm day around the city or neighborhood. The place and city is calm and does not have a lot of noise with rarely any people everything seemed to go well. When he started walking home about a block away from his house he gets stopped by a cop and was asked for identification and a couple questions like “what have you been doing?” but he was just walking and felt you justice. The end of the story is were the plot changes in real life he gets to go home and feels the energy to write the story so he wrote it but, in the story he but that he gets taken by the cop car. It was all unfair it’s like if an officer saw you walking down the street and some random person committed a crime and he tries to blame you for that crime and he puts in in hand cuffs and takes you.

STORY OF MY LIFE

An event that happened at n my life that could be turned into a short story is when I had my soccer game this weekend. We played a gold team that is high qualified than us we are silver we scored the first goal some kid kept pulling on my so when I had the chance I backed elbowed him he got mad and said it was weak and to do it in front of the ref. So as we went he scored the score was tied then they got a penalty they scored it and they were ahead by a goal the ref wasn’t marking anything they injuries our keeper then it hit half time with them ahead by a goal. I changed and started 2nd half as keeper then we went on and scored a goal 2-2 then I got a ball and got stepped on and the ref wasn’t marking anything so I played and we got a penalty and scored 3-2 then we scored again 4-2 and the last few minutes we managed to get another one in and won the math 5-2 the kid ended up apologizing and saying that he talked to soon.

SO THIS GUY GOES FOR A WALK

The tone contributes with his life experience because he was wrongly token advantage by a cop also just like how the guy in the story was walking home and he got arrested by a cop car and was taken somewhere. The character seems like a calm guy that just like to go for walks late at night just to get some air and see what’s out in life for him to see late at night or just go for a walk on the streets. The plot is the same as the one in his real like he goes for a walk around his city or neighborhood and he ends up getting stopped by a cop when he is about to get home just that in his real life I just gets release and could go home and in the story he gets taken by the cop car.

THE ART OF HOSTING GOOD CONVERSATIONS ONLINE

Some important points i liked the one were it said authentic conversations are from the heart, head and guts. The other points that i felt that were important were the ones were it said that we should make them talk and not just be consumers. 

HOW TO GET ALONG ONLINE

Three ways to have a great online conversation. one would be to keep the person interested on what the conversation is about and not make them bored. two be humors with person throw some jokes out their make them laugh. Last is be nice to the person never be men or rude to them. 

SAME WORDS DIFFERENT PEOPLE

Two things that I learned about the vocab and talking about it. Is that you could start a conversation about just a vocabulary word that is interesting. Like the word meme started a conversation about a meme that’s was going viral and we started talking how people were making it different and changing the meme. I also learned that it’s good to look into new word and find out we’re they came from and the root word of them.

THE VALUE OF TIME

One thing that I know will help me in the future that am doing today is that I go to the gym everyday am usually committed to what I do. The other things that help me out and would make me a good person later in life is that am alone most of the time and the things I do I usually do them alone I feel that helps because people should be independent. This are things that would help me in the future with out depending on people to do things or for their needs.

HOW I READ

my first impression on how we read was that i started thinking of how good books can be for us and we could get into them. In my way i feel like i would have to get a very good or interesting that it would get my mind into it. my impression is good because sometimes it feels good to get that feeling that your in the story also and you want to be their. the story that would get me in that type of way would be if there's a bad person trying to harm and i'd be the one to save them.

HAWTHORNE & POE ON DREAM

It’s two different types of dreams because in Young Goodman Brown he ends up being in a bad dream that he turns horrible after he wakes up and finds out bad news and things he didn’t want to happen. In Dream Within A Dream it seems like a good dream where things are all calm and relax without having anything to stress out about and worry about. It’s just two different type of dreams and people and when you wake up from one you are mad, sad, or worried. When you wake up from the other you are happy about everything at the moment. As you go things sink in and you will eventually forget about it.

INVESTING IN ME

I think the best way to start saving money is by me getting a job and from the checks I get put half of it away in a safe place and not use it. If not their is other things that work and will be helpful for me to save money like going and helping people. Doing BBQ’s and selling tickets for it is also a great idea that people always do when then need money for things. Their is different types of ways that we capfuls get money we just need to want the money and be able to do it.

LETTER TO A MENTOR DRAFT

The person I would like to talk to and ask what it took them to get to where they are is my role model and feel like is the best soccer player in the world right Lionel Messi. I would like to ask him what it took for him because i could tell he as the same as all of us had bumps on the road. It would mean a ll lot to talk to a person that important in the sport i love and have passion for. I would have to ask him a lot of questions because i know that he even has hormone problems how has it been with these types of medical conditions.

FIRST IMPRESSION OF A DREAM

My first impression on the poem I was confused because I don’t understand some of the word that were on their. I understood that sometimes we have dreams within dreams even if we find it weird sometimes dreams are good. It made me feel a bit weird and think about all the dreams I had it brought the jornal topic to my mind because sometimes we have bad nightmares and wake up in the middle of the night freaking out. My impression on this poem was good though it’s just that I didn’t understand some of the word on their.

MY THESIS STATEMENT

In my understanding Howthorne communicates his theme by different ways in different occasions in the story or novel. He has different was for his theme to be communicated to his readers and some of those ways are we are able to see and take in. In the other hand some of the ways he used to communicate his theme are harder to tell and are difficult to see in a way. He expressed his theme well by the ways he put it in the novel/essay/story. It was a little difficult to understand the theme when you barely start reading the story but as you go you will understand it little by little.

In my way of reading the story I feel like Howthorne uses characterization in a way to communicate his way for people to see the theme and the story better. I feel like he used characterization with the character Faith because their was things that seemed a little off. It seems like he used it on Faith because of the disappear sometimes in the story and appear randomly. A person who really loves you would always be your best friend and care about you no matter what’s the situation and in her role she didn’t really support young good men brown.

Next I feel Howthorne like he used symbolism in a way he organized things were in the story like the dream or it was probably really happening to Brown. The pink ribbon looked like it symbolize Faith because it would appear as she appears in the story and it connects because as she leaves during the story the pink ribbon seems to fade away also. In the perspective I see it the whole story or dream symbolizes the Brown was going through some horrible things during this life time and he felt happy at the beginning of everything but things started to change. In a way that he finds himself in the middle of the forest seeing demons and other harsh things then his with appears to leave him.

Last I feel like Howthornes used foreshadowing in a way to communicate the theme of the story to the readers. It seems that he used it in a way that things would be good for a certain amount of time but things can change anytime. He basically foreshadows that like can change in a matter of time and we need to take advantage of what we have and what we do In life. We may think we got a lot of time but some of us can be in the wrong place at the wrong time it’s as easy as that we never know the future or what’s next for us. Some of the people just think it’s easy to do this and that but when they get to do it they change the way they think because now they know how it works.

READ TALK UNDERSTAND

I think it's a way different thing when the author is in the room because you can ask questions to him. while the other story had me confused and just looking around not understanding some of it. I feel that when the author is in the room i get more focused because i can tell about his emotions and body language. it makes me look different at what's being said when the author is here.

YOUNG GOOD MEN BROWN

1. I think that Hawthorne's purpose of writing the story was for people to think about how crazy things can be in life. Also for the purpose that you could feel different in any type of position even if you trust the person to the fullest.

2. When the story was beginning it seemed like he really trusted her and really loved her and her name did go with her personality but, as the story went on it started getting awkward and weird between them and i feel like at the end of the story her name did not go with her personality.

3. I think that the pink ribbon signified faith because when she starts to fade away the pink ribbon starts to fade away as well.

4. I feel like everything Brown witnessed was all a dream because he ends up saying he woke up cold in the middle of the forest like he might have been sleep walking and dreaming at the same time.

In my perspective he wrote the story to show that some peoples imagination can be really advanced that they might feel like they are living it in real life. In the story it mention how things went from good to horrible in a matter of time like if it was a dream. He was happy then he appeared in the wood lonely and dark hearing and seeing things.

literature analysis

The plot of the story is that the book talk about the childhood and professional soccer life of Tim Howard written by himself. He talks about him and his brother and mom also where they lived and how life was for him growing up in new jersey. He also talks about some important games he had in his career like playing for the U.S national team. The theme is him living in new jersey for his childhood but moving around the world to play for the U.S national team and for Inter. Based on the author's tone it seems like he wakes up early and gets what he has to get done finished. He seems to be energetic because he is professional soccer player and has to be fit and get his workouts in to maintain that shape. He has to be ready for the games and stay in a healthy shape and it might be harder for him because he play as a keeper and keepers don't run much but have to have good reflexes. He seems to have a lot of fun with his older brother in his childhood and he messes around with him a lot like fighting.

THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

In my personnel being it depends what type of conversation you are trying to have with that person because we all prefer one way to get in contact of. Like in my perspective the best way to contact a teacher is by email same when contacting your counselor. In the other hand when i contact my parents or friends its mostly through message or call because i feel like its faster and they wouldn't expect an email from me.

SO THIS GUY GOES FOR A WALK

This story or article just made me think of it as a scary type of tail to be told because f where it takes place. My first impressions was that it took in a small town where everyone knows each other and is friendly. It seems scary to be in a place like the one said where you feel followed and uncomfortable to be in. i would be scared to be followed around in a place i call home town. It seems like they have special word for special things such as " pink ribbon " .

FOR THE WIN

I feel like something i have done really well in this course is being good in an English class and being on time to class. I think just having the right teacher makes the class fun enough for me to be there and wanting to go to class. I just like the humor of Dr.Preston it makes the class better for me. I am not a fan of English class i am not good at the subject but, it makes me feel more confident in class this year.

I AIN'T GOT TIME FOR THIS

My dominant time allocations are a little bit of all. My habits and time support my goal because going to the gym gets me moving and motivated. Then soccer practice just makes me happy because am doing something i like and been doing for my past 10 years. My day is just full of all of them just a bit i go to the gym daily except Saturday and Sunday. Then i come and spend time with my family for a good amount of time even on the weekends. Then when am bored i play video games or watch you tube or a movie it depends.

THE EARTH ON TURTLE'S BACK

It seems like a very interesting moral to tell because it shows different types of things. In a way it shows for people not to give up and keep trying. It doesn't matter what size or age you could accomplish a lot it's just to keep on going. if u put your mind to something you are able to do it. 

TODAY I WAS THINKING

Today in class we talked about different topics and they were interesting facts that we had to talk about. like the journal topic that adults always tell toddlers to use there word as they learn new word and colors and the alphabet.

I CARE ABOUT YOUR UNDERSTANDING

Today am writing with the tension of being understood by my readers. sometimes i feel like people don't understand the way i might feel. I have gone through rough things in life but i get up everyday and try my best and i feel like people don't understand that or see that in me. I am great person when you get to meet me but, some people just hate me in the other am just going to let them be.

THE MAKING OF AN ESSAY

For me personally it's always hard to make an essay it's even hard for me to even start an essay. When i have to do and essay it's hard to start it but as soon as i get a good started i feel like could keep on going for a good amount of time. The only thing that stops me and i ain't good at is making sentences and paragraphs. That's why i really don't like essay's but i always try my best while making an essay i ain't good at English in general.

THE FIRST 50 PAGES

This book really calls my attention because in one way the author is a keeper and that's my soccer position as well. It inspires me to keep on going and that big things are to come. Makes me feel like i need to keep moving forward no matter what gets in the way. It's about the sport i love playing and i would never stop playing it makes me think about what i want in the future for myself and i really do want a lot for my self.

HACK TO SCHOOL

This class is a English 3 class but instead of just doing book work we are using our new technology that is provided by the school. In ways like doing journals but online were we can post all of the things that are required by the teacher. The easiest part of his class is waking up and going to class. Class wise the post are also easy but you need to have the right amount of time and take advantage of anytime given. The hardest part of the class is for me to remember the poems that are given it's just hard to remember thing in my head and just get recorded saying the poem. I have learned many things so for like new ways to use the technology we are given and ways to not get distracted and focus on what i am doing. My big question is what motivated you to become what you are know and how difficult was it.

HOW I READ

My experience with reading isn't great at all i feel like reading is just boring for me. If i read the right thing that will get me into the mindset of me wanting to know whats next it will probably help me. it's just difficult for me to sit down and read something. My preferences of reading or things to to read are more like sports books or biographies of a athletes life. I just feel like i ain't meant to be a reader it's hard for me to sit quite and read alone.

THIS BOOK IS DANGEROUS

COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES OF A HACKER

The Mentor uses diction, tone, and syntax in different ways. I feel like the mentor uses diction in a way that he uses a couple of word in different ways. He also uses a couple of big words that would be good for us to analyze. I think the tone is for the reader to understand whats going on in the essay or in the life of the writer or character in the story. The syntax in the essay is good because of how he arranges the word on some paragraphs the ending sentence ends the same way. i like how the essay is organized and the way he is able to make this an interesting essay about what he does and what he thinks people think about him.

CONSCIENCE OF A HACKER

In my understanding hacking it might be a bad idea but i feel like the people who actually do are very smart. I feel like they are smart because in order to get that much information you have to go around many road blocks. It seems like he loves his life while hacking the things he likes. It also seems like his teacher is one of those teachers who has a bad attitude toward him because of what he does. I don't like when teachers judge me by one thing i do. It's like we are all the same i have days when am down just how they might have there days. 

THINKING ABOUT WHAT I WANT TO THINK ABOUT

I feel like people feel so perfect because they probably have a lot of joy in them or because they have had a good life so far. But, i have learned a lot throughout my 16 years in this life i have learned that things could happen when u least expect them. They could happen even if you are at your happiest point in life. Some people think money is everything but it is not money can not buy someone happiness it's impossible. Most of the people that are rich and go broke commit suicide because the money dives them crazy and that's sad. 

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

I feel like it's better when you know the people around you because it would make you think if you really want to be around them or not. In the other hand you could get some advantage and get to know the person more ad what do they like to do and what they don't like. I feel like getting to know people could help you and them if they would like to have someone to talk to sometimes you could probably be that person. It's hard for some people to talk to others if they don't know them because they probably don't feel any connection with the other person and that would make them feel uncomfortable. 

TODAY I ASKED A QUESTION

I feel like people don't ask questions or fewer questions as they grow because they probably think they know everything in this world but we ain't perfect at all we all have defects. Some people think it's wrong to ask and others feel to smart to ask questions but, some people are just to shy and don't feel confident on themselves. In my perspective we should always as questions that would have answers it could probably answers someone's question. For some people it's hard to speak up because they feel scared we should never make people feel left out or uncomfortable about something. Mt big question is. Why do some people feel so perfect?

SOCRATIC METHOD

The Socratic method is a sort of like a discussion but instead it has it has a twist. in order for it to work you need to have some good questions so that most of the people in the discussion can put parts together and work out the answer to the question. i feel like this will help us as students communicate to each other especially if we don't know each other. The Socratic method was created back in the 5th century in Greece. while using this method they are also supposed to prove that they are right or at least try getting and answer back form their question. This is a good method to us for big questions that most people would not have answers to because then it will get them thinking. For example like to scientist know more about space or about the ocean or is the earth really flat. Also, how does a regular person feel after love you may never know everyone is different in many ways.

YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION

The reason i would feel like you ain't entitled to your opinion would be because other people probably thought about the same thing you are thinking about. Also some people aren't always right about there "opinion" and when they review what they said they see that they messed up. Sometimes it alright for people to say what's in there mind because usually it isn't good to keep to your self things that ain't good for you.

THE RIGHT TO YOUR OPINION

In my perspective people should always backup their opinions with information they have. I feel like if people back up their opinions they will end up coming with a conclusion like if there opinion is true. My feeling is that they will end up thinking about their opinion more if its true or just a statement. I feel like most people that say opinions just get it from random things unless its something important. This people should not just putting opinions out their especially if they are harmful like rumors that can spread and hurt someone in bad ways. Am not stating that opinions are bad but we should sometimes have a limit like opinions on who's the greatest artist, soccer player, or even athlete is alright there statues can prove if they really are.   

NOW I REMEMBER

I personally feel like what really helped me remember or memorize Richard Cory was keep on reading it while i would listen to music in the back round. In the other hand i did try the mirror one where u read it while looking at yourself in the mirror and i feel like it also helps. i just feel like my personal method helped me more because i generally listen to music a lot and if really like the song a memorize it and keep listening to it.

TRAIN YOUR BRAIN LIKE A MEMORY CHAMPION

This article made me think about how people are so good at remembering things even things that are small. Like the date of something small if you went shopping and you could remember ex actually what day you went and did it. For me in the other hand i could only remember certain things like if i did something important that day. Like if it was someones birthday or special day i would be able to remember but if it was a regular day then its a little bit more difficult for me. Maybe i should start trying some of the methods mention in the article and would probably help me out.

Welcome to my blog as you can see my name is Juan am very athletic but only play soccer most of the time that’s what I do to keep other things away from my head I been playing for about 10 years already. I have two sisters and one brother also five step-sisters. I just live with my mom, two sisters, and brother.
