NOTES AND THOUGHTS ON CH 9

• After two years of Gatsby’s death nick describes his funeral that it was filled of journalists, reporters, and gossip mongers 
• More wild and untrue rumors went around about Gatsby’s relationship with Myrtles and Wilson 
• Feeling that Gatsby wouldn't like a funeral alone nick tries to get his friends and accountants but they have all disappeared 
• Tom and daisy have moved away with no address for them to look for as well as Meyer Wolfshiem and Klipspringer
• The only people to attend the funeral are Nick, Owl eye, a couple servants, and Gatsby’s dad 
• Gatsby’s father is proud of his son and saves a couple pictures and memories 
• Suck of East egg Nick moves back to the Midwest he breaks off his relationship with Jordan who tell him that she had been with another man 
• As nick is leaving he encounters Tom and refuses to shake his hand but later accepts then Tom tells nick that he was the one who told Wilson that Gatsby owned the car that killed Myrtles 
• Tom said that Gatsby deserved to die as Nick thinks that Tom and Daisy are careless and uncaring people and the destroyed people and things knowing there money will protect them from negative consequences 
• Nick thinks that everything happened in the west because Jordan, him, Tom and Daisy are from the west and that moving to the east and living fast paced and the luxury life changed them into the people they are 
• The night before nick left he went over to Gatsby’s mansion and erased a word of the stairs that someone put he went to the back and looked at the beach then at the moon rising and imagined how the island would look without any houses and how the explorers saw it 
• He imagines that America was a goal for dreamers and explorers just like daisy was for Gatsby 
• Nick sense that people everywhere are motivated by the same goal by desire to move forward into the future in which they realize there dream 
• It’s seems to be like a boat in the ocean with the waves carrying back into the past

• Gatsby toke daisy and made love with her 
• Gatsby told nick that he was at the house for 6 hours making sure daisy was ok 
• Nick told Gatsby to go to another city but Gatsby says no because he says he has to take care of daisy 
• They had some personal business and gets mad 
• Gatsby came back from France the week that Tom and daisy were on there wedding vacation 
• I tho k he made it seem that the relationship between Gatsby and daisy would never go back how it was and it will die off by the way he states that it’s fall and everything dies in the fall 
• He doesn’t want to leave the train because it reminds him of the trips he had with daisy 
• Wilson tries to fin out who killed his wife as he goes asking people if they have seen a yellow car 
• Then he asks people if they know where Gatsby lives 
• When Wilson gets to Gatsby’s house he shots him then shots himself

I unfortunately only got two people to comment there answers in my questions and they seemed to know the answers and they were catched up with the reading so they answered all the questions good with the right answers and none were wrong. It looked like they had studied for the test that we were having as classmates

WHAT GATSBY SAYS TO ME

I think the central idea of the book or theme is that like Gatsby has done everything that is possible to get daisy’s attention because he loves her and he wants her to love him. In my way of seeing things it is trying to say to not waste all your money and time to try and get people’s attention if they love you and want you they will talk to you. Gatsby had wasted a lot of money on parties and the mansion he bought and he couldn’t get her attention till nick told her to go over to his house for some tea. If she really cared about him she wouldn’t want all that money or would want him to do all that for her attention. Or the other message that I feel is like some people say money can get you anything. I feel like that’s a lie because it sometimes doesn’t bring happiness it brings things you can buy but you cant buy happiness.

GATSBY NOTES AND THOUGHTS CH 7

• Gatsby cancels his parties which were to get daisy’s attention and fires his servants and replaces them with shady individuals connected to Meyer Wolfshiem 
• On the hottest day of the summer nick takes a train to East egg to go with his cousin daisy and finds Jordan and Gatsby there 
• When the lady shows daisy’s daughter Gatsby can’t believe it and they can’t hide there love for each other daisy asks Gatsby if they want to go to the city and Gatsby looks at her passionately and Tom becomes aware of there feeling for each other 

My thoughts at this point is that daisy will end up leaving Tom because she will fall for Gatsby again and really wants to make a life with him and be happy and not disappointed by Tom

• Tom says that they should all go to New York and nick rides with Jordan and Tom meanwhile daisy and Gatsby are riding together in Tom’s car stopping for gas as they go to the city it is notice that Wilson has been aware of his wife cheating but doesn’t know with who and it seems that Wilson and Tom are in the same situation 
• Tom wants to be like Gatsby and calls people “ old sport “ and says that Gatsby is a Lier and didn’t attend oxford 
• Tom asked Gatsby about daisy and Gatsby says that daisy loves him and not Tom then Tom says they have a history that Gatsby won’t understand Tom sends daisy back to Long Island with Gatsby and it’s nicks birthday 
• While going back Jordan, Tom, and nick see that somebody had been hit by a car and had left Tom thinks it was Gatsby the one that did the hit and run 
•  When they get to toms house nick finds Gatsby hiding in the bushes he says he was there to see that Tom wouldn’t hurt daisy and that daisy was driving when they struck Myrtle 
• Gatsby says he will take the blame but doesn’t want daisy to get hurt so he send nick to check on her
